Responsibilities of the Correctional Facilities Chair:
- Coordinates correctional information with G.S.O;
- Keeps the Prisoner Correspondence List up-to-date and coordinates the “Bridging The Gap” Program (Pre-release Program);
- Attends S.E.N.Y. Corrections Facilities Committee Chair’s meetings;
- Is familiar with the Correctional Facilities Workbook;
- Attends the monthly Staten Island General Services Meeting held on the second Sunday of every month.
Corrections Correspondence – a special kind of A.A. Service
We are in need of A.A. members on the outside willing to correspond with A.A. members in correctional facilities. Those who have participated in this service have found sharing with inmates a very gratifying form of Twelfth Step work.

The AA Corrections “Bridging the Gap” Program
The purpose of the A.A.’s “Bridging the Gap” Program is to connect the inmate A.A. member with Alcoholics Anonymous in their community upon their release. You are being asked to be that A.A. “Bridging the Gap” volunteer. When a soon-to-be released A.A. inmate contacts us, we match them to a volunteer in their community. We call you, get the okay and then send the information along to you. Your job is simple. You contact the A.A. inmate and arrange to take them to an A.A. meeting within 24 hours of their release.
